While we haven’t updated this post for sometime, we have been maintaining all CDC guidelines for offering treatments to our community. Patient and Visitor Screenings

General coronavirus (COVID-19) questions? Please call 2-1-1.

Patient and Visitor Screenings

Capital Chiropractic has implemented the following safety precautions:

  • Patients are discouraged from bringing visitors unless absolutely necessary
  • All patients and visitors will be screened for fever and lower respiratory symptoms upon entry. If you exhibit any of these symptoms or if you have either tested positive for COVID-19 or have been tested and are awaiting test results, you may be asked to reschedule your appointment for a later date.

Appointments and Care

  • For appointments in person, we are strongly encouraging those patients over 70 years old and patients over 50 years old with co-morbidities (diabetes, hypertension, lung disease, immunosuppression) to postpone these visits for at least four weeks.
  • Visits for necessary care are still acceptable.

Capital Chiropractic: COVID-19 Preparedness

To date, while there are no confirmed Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases among our employees or patients as of now, the rapid spread of the disease makes it likely that we may be impacted.

Considering this reality, we want to take proactive measures to educate and protect our employees, our patients, and the public, utilizing the most up-to-date guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Occupational Health & Safety Act (OSHA), Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH)

Introduction

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. To reduce the impact of COVID-19 outbreak conditions on businesses, workers, patients, and the public, it is important that Capital Chiropractic plan now for COVID-19.

Symptoms of COVID-19

Infection with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, can cause illness ranging from mild to severe and, in some cases, can be fatal. Symptoms typically include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Some people infected with the virus have reported experiencing other non-respiratory symptoms. Other people, referred to as asymptomatic cases, have experienced no symptoms at all.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), symptoms of COVID-19 may appear in as few as 2 days or as long as 14 days after exposure.

How COVID-19 Spreads

The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person, including:

  • Between people who are in close contact with one another (within 6 feet).
  • Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

Prevention Measures

Employees should practice good hygiene and infection control practices, including:

  • Frequent and thorough hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. This includes employees, patients, and worksite visitors.  Alcohol-based hand sanitizers will be available as well.
  • Practice respiratory etiquette, including covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throwing the tissue in the trash.
    • Including, starting on March 23rd, all staff and clinicians will wear gloves and masks when working directly with patients
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces with approved disinfectants.
  • Utilize provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed which may include: a combination of gloves, a gown, and/or face mask.
  • Stay home if you are sick. Cough and congestion could be a cold. This illness begins with a fever and dry or sore throat.
  • If you need to stay home to care for a sick family member, notify us so we can discuss your absence.

Capital Chiropractic will practice the following measures:

  • Increased sanitary and disinfecting practices, including additional cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces, equipment, and other elements of the work environment. CCRC will provide cleaning and disinfection products.
  • Provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and training on how to use and wear it. PPE may be made available to patients, as necessary or available.
  • Provide employees with up-to-date education and training on COVID-19 risk factors, protective behaviors, and CDC guidelines.
  • Modify our existing hours of operation or patient appointment protocol, as necessary, to limit the number of patients in the office at a given time.
  • Practice social distancing (more than 6 feet apart) between staff and patients to the extent possible.

Capital Chiropractic will continue to monitor the latest developments with COVID-19 and keep you informed of any new information as it develops. Thank you for your cooperation.
