Thousands of participants converged on Gray’s Lake on Sunday for the 2013 Hy-Vee Triathlon in Des Moines. The beautifully orchestrated event unfolded over the morning and early afternoon with athletes from all over the world, on what turned out to be a gorgeous September day.

Graston and ART for Athlete Rehabilitation

Dr. LoRang was on hand near the rehab station at the finish line, providing two of his specialty soft tissue treatments, Graston and ART. Graston is an instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization technique that fosters recovery and can relieve conditions thought to be permanent. ART is a movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves, especially for overused muscles.

Triathletes Enjoy Both Race and Recovery

After swimming, biking, and running, the athletes of all ages came in with sore legs, backs, and bodies, ready to get rejuvenated. Dr. LoRang treated athletes from as far away as San Antonio, Kansas City, Omaha, Chicago, and around Iowa. No matter their hometown, everyone was happy for the good weather, the well-organized event, and the chance to recuperate following the big race.
