By now, it’s no secret that our country is struggling with a serious opioid problem. In fact, many are asking what else can be done to treat pain besides prescription opiates.
According to the Center for Disease Control recommendations for determining when to initiate or continue opioids for chronic pain, “Nonpharmacologic therapy and nonopioid pharmacologic therapy are preferred for chronic pain (source).” Said another way, the number one recommendation is to begin with a non-pharmacological (drug-free) therapy such as chiropractic care and physical therapy.
